over 80 years experience in manufacture and fitting, Mathway
can justifiably claim to have an extensive, practical working
knowledge of the usage of marine steering gear for all types
of craft.
Designed
using well-proven engineering principles Mathway's Marine
Steering Gear has been tried and tested by both Naval and
Civilian craft of all nationalities. The equipment meets exacting
standards and has been specified for use by several of the
Navies of the world.

All
Mathway steering gears are of the mechanical type with positive
gearing between the wheel and the rudder, or rudders. They are
free of back-lash and remain so after
prolonged use, even under the most arduous conditions. Even
the larger power-operated models have the manual gear incorporated
in the transmission system and in the unlikely event of power
failure, full control of the vessel is maintained - the only
indication of such an occurrence being the heavier wheel action
occasioned by the absence of power assistance. |

Every
vessel can therefore have Mathway steering gear tailored to
suit individual requirements but at a competitive price due
to our special form of standardisation.
Naturally,
with vessels varying in size from launches of 25ft to 2,500
ton commercial craft, a wide range of equipment is necessary
and examples indicated in the drawings are but samples of
the total range available. All manufactured from standard
components regularly in production, and at reasonable prices.
