Parsons engines and gearboxes have been a worldwide house name
in the marine industry for over 90 years.
Parsons were the first marine engine specialists in the UK & although
no longer manufactured, being Ford based (petrol or diesel) are
still easy to maintain. More importantly parts can still be obtained
in original or patterned form from Parsons Mathway Marine.
Parsons marine gearboxes are still in vast numbers around the world.
Although no longer manufactured we still hold records of all gearboxes
produced going back as far as 1909.
All Parsons gearboxes are of either hydraulic or manual operation
& are capable of taking engine horsepower of up to 350+. Being
of the epicycle motion gearbox there are a few wearing parts &
with the precision & strength of build some boxes of over 20
years of age are still running perfectly & have still not needed
repair.
Over the years that Parsons manufactured these robust gearboxes
& engines some well known boat manufacturers and authorities
have specified them in their design plans. British MOD,
RNLI, PERKINS, ROLLS ROYCE, CUMMINS, FAIREY MARINE & FREEMAN
BOATS are but just a few showing how their ruggedness and
reliability proved to be of outstanding standards.
Whether the gearbox be of the A, B, C, D, F, G, H, HG4 or MG4 type,
hydraulic or manual with reduction gears of 2.1, 3.1 or direct drive
they can still be expertly repaired by Parsons Mathway Marine. We
can also repair various other products that Parsons manufactured
such as pumps, exhaust mixer boxes, manifolds and the very robust
Mathway Marine gearbox which was supplied for use in conjunction
with the Rolls Royce diesel engines and other large units.
